This position is located in Sterling, VA. A comprehensive relocation package is available for qualified candidates.
Come be part of a team building a multi-million dollar flight simulator. Our team is looking for self-motivated, confident and passionate engineers to help us create advanced aircraft simulation and training devices and products for both military and commercial customers.
This software engineering position is within the B-52 Team in the Simulation & Training Solutions (STS) business area. STS develops and builds simulators and training systems for both military and commercial customers. Devices range in complexity from desktop training all the way up to high fidelity weapon system and full-flight training systems including full visual, motion, and simulator interoperability (HLA/DIS).
This job is a software position whose responsibilities include: development of high level application software using C, C++. Software engineers typically are involved in the full software lifecycle: requirements definition, software design, code development, unit testing, hardware/software integration, test and verification, customer delivery and support. This engineer will be responsible for assisting with acceptance testing, finding and correcting defects, and verifying corrections in an avionics trainer. Our training devices may be delivered anywhere in the United States or the world so some travel is required.
Software development areas include:
* Simulation framework (schedulers, computer hardware interfaces)
* Input / Output (I/O) (e.g. serial, Ethernet, Mil-1553, ARINC-429, analog/digital)
* Network architecture
* Aircraft system simulation
* Environment simulation (e.g. radio facilities, atmosphere, radio traffic, external entities)
* Graphical user interfaces
Must be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. US Citizenship is required.
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
Must Have Requirements: Required:
* Student working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM program including Computer Science OR other Bachelor of Arts in a STEM program (including Computer Science).
* U.S. citizenship
* C or C++ experience or C# or Java
* Object Based or Objected Oriented Design
* Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
* Real-time programming
* Source code control (Subversion, Git, ClearCase etc.)
* Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
* Previous engineering internship/co-op experience
* Private pilot license
This position requires good oral and written communication skills, strong teamwork skills, and the desire to participate on a results-oriented team of Systems, Hardware and Software Engineers.
